Happy new year and welcome to Start Write 2013: a writing tip each day through January to inspire you to get the results you want in your writing this year.
2013 is a year of the water Snake, and Chinese astrologers say all things will be possible.
Imagine if that applied to your writing. What is the one thing that you most wish for? It could be the end game – to get published or perhaps you are earlier on in the writing and you want to establish a daily writing routine. Whatever it is, the first thing to do for Write Start 2013 is to declare your writerly intentions.
If you don’t name it, it’s trickier to aim for it. So go on, scribble down a list of your writing wants for 2013 and then during the cold, still month of January sketch out a plan for making them happen. Perhaps a daily or weekly target? You know what works best for you. Give yourself something concrete to aim for and anything might be possible.
Remember this year – if you get stuck – to ask your writing questions of an agent or publisher at London Writer’s Club Live or on our monthly Skype Writers’ Surgery.
Here’s to a great start for your writing in 2013.
